Personalized Medicine
Reduce trial and error at the prescription pad

Your test results will identify potential complications from drug interactions and side effects. Using these results your physician can select medications most suited to you; reducing your risk and allowing you to be at your best health sooner.

80% of medications are broken down and cleared from the body by enzymes in the liver. If there is a genetic mutation, you may not be able to remove or activate these medications from your liver in the appropriate fashion and therefore become vulnerable to drug toxicity, resulting in adverse drug reactions or side effects.

Some medications need to be converted to active forms inside your liver. If there are mutations in the gene coding responsible for this activation, you will not benefit from taking these medications.

Test results give your physician a better understanding of your genetic makeup, allowing for prescriptions better suited to you.

The Different Types of Metabolizers

Depending on your results, your medications can be adjusted to suit your body or genetic make-up:

  • Poor - will metabolize a drug very slowly or not at all and will not produce active metabolites with prodrugs.
  • Intermediate - will metabolize a drug, but at a reduced rate.
  • Normal - will likely metabolize a drug as anticipated in the package insert.
  • Rapid - will metabolize a drug at a more rapid rate than "normal" and buildup active metabolites with prodrugs.
